Inauguration of Social Projects in Tetouan – HM the King Gives Strong Impulse to National Human Development Initiative Programs

Tetouan — HM King Mohammed VI inaugurated on Wednesday a social compound in the Jbel Dersa neighborhood in Tetouan, and a center for the consolidation of women competence in Jamaa Mezouak neighborhood, two projects falling in line with the National Human Development Initiative (INDH).

The projects, worth 22 million DH of investments, are designed to consolidate community equipment in the city, develop competence of the youth and women and promote their social and professional integration. They are part of HM the King’s insightful vision which places the human element at the heart of the development process.

Through a set of training and supervision tools, the two projects are expected to contribute to fighting illiteracy and school dropping, spreading values of citizenship and civism, promoting socio-economic development of recipients, consolidating social cohesion and developing the target populations’ actions and their active participation in the local development drive.

The two projects meet the needs of populations and associations of the two neighborhoods as they offer qualification training in income-generating crafts, participate in promoting cultural and associations’ activities and spread volunteering among the target populations.

The Jbel Dersa compound features a training center in carpentry-aluminum work, carpentry-wood work, tailoring-sewing, hair-dressing and pastry-making. It also includes classrooms for school tutoring, computers, music, pre-schooling, a library, a space for associations, an outdoors theater, a mutli-usage room, a playground for children and sports hall.

The Jamaa Mezouak center for consolidation of women competence consists of tailoring-sewing and hair-dressing workshops, a multi-media room a library, rooms for school tutoring and pre-schooling for children of recipient women.

These projects reinforce the social offer in the city of Tetouan and confirm the open and permanent nature of the INDH, a landmark program designed to upgrade the human capital and improve the living conditions in various regions of the kingdom.
