The All Progressives Congress in Osun State, has said it rejected the war intention of the Vice President, Namadi Sambo, who declared in Abuja Wednesday, that the July 21 and August 9 elections in Ekiti and Osun States will be ‘a war’, that the Peoples Democratic Party will ‘fight’ to regain the two states at all cost.
According to the APC, “this is a sadistic declaration of war by a government, on its own people and it is also patent evidence that the PDP is the actual cause of the war Nigeria have been having in recent time, including that of Boko Haram”.
In a statement released in Osogbo yesterday by the Party’s Director of Publicity, Research and Strategy, Mr. Kunle Oyatomi, APC warned that PDP should think twice before it imports war to the Western part of the country that has been the most peaceful area since the return of democracy.
“We reject this war proposal of the VP because it will spell disaster for the country”, APC said.
The party further cautioned that already, the Federal Government had series of wars on its hands which it has failed to win; and to start a new war on a peaceful people in the West would be biting more than the government can chew.
“It will be inviting anarchy”, the party said. APC reminded Sambo that he had enough troubles in his home state, Kaduna, which he struggled to win in an allegedly rigged victory against the defunct CPC in 2011.
“His chances of winning that state in 2015 are slim, if not impossible.
“Namadi Sambo should bother more about Kaduna than scheming for a war in the West. It will be a very unpleasant experience for him and his party”, APC said.
On the arrow head the PDP wants to use for its war in Osun, Mr. Iyiola Omisore, the APC described the ex-senator as ‘a politician who lacks electoral value in the State’.
“For instance, Omisore was comprehensively defeated in 2011 by the youngest Senator in Nigerian Senate today, Babajide Omoworare.
“In that election, Omisore got 25 votes in his polling booth and he lost his ward and the election to the young senator”, they said.
Besides, the APC said, Omisore is not the kind of political personality that can lead any serious political party to electoral victory in the State of Osun.
According to the party, this is the reason why the PDP has chosen undemocratic option of going to war to win.
