Joho was speaking at a banquet held in his honour by the Long Beach-Mombasa Sister City Partnership in Long Beach, California, as he concluded his nine-day visit of the US. Joho said his office is seeking partnerships based on mutual and cordial relationship.

“When I was elected, the first thing I was eager to know is who will be our partners. That is when I found out about Seattle and Long Beach sister cities network,” he said. Joho said Mombasa does not have free land to give but has other incentives to offer investors.

“We have nothing completely free. Our people must have means to better their lives,” he said. Joho said he wants to improve Mombasa residents’ lives. He asked Kenyans in Diaspora to invest more in Kenya.
