Following the passage of Alhaji Ado Bayero, the Emir of Kano who reigned from 1963 till last week, his first son, Sanusi Ado Bayero has been named as the new Emir.
Alhaji Lamido Sunusi Ado Bayero was born on 1st of April,1956 into the royal family of Sullubawa Clan. He is the first son of the marriage between late Emir Ado Bayero and his cousin. He was born at Filin Chiranchi area where his father stayed before becoming the Emir and that same house happens to be his personal residence.
The new Emir attended the following educational institutions and obtained qualifications;
Rano boarding Primary school,1963 – 1969
Rumfa College, Kano 1969 – 1973
Govt College, Birin Kudu. 1973 -1975.
College of Arts & science 1975 – 1976.
Diploma in French from Ecole International De La Langue Francoise, Paris in 1976-1979
Diploma in Law Institute of Administration Kongo, Zaria 1977 – 1979
Ahmadu Bello University Bachelor’s Degree in Law 1979 -1983 and Called to bar in1984.
Alhaji Sanusi, who was until his appointment as Emir the Ciroman Kano lectured in Kaduna Polytechnic where he did his National Youth Service (NYSC) between 1984-1985.
He also worked as counsel to the Ministry of Justice, Gidan Murtala 1985-1987 after which he became legal Adviser and Company Secretary Kano state investment and properties. 1988-1989.
The other capacities in which he served include Director General Kano State Council of Chiefs 1991-1993
DG Special Duties Kano State Government 1993-1996.
Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Information, youth and Culture 1996-2000 Chairman City Walls and Gates which he took over in 1995.
Task Force Member of Next Generation Nigeria Covened by the British Council Nigeria.
Director of many organizations and NGOs.
His enterpreneurial spirit made him to establish Lamido & Co., a Law firm in 1986 which he is a Principal Partner.
Until his acension to the throne he was District Head of Gwale Local Govt. and a council Member of Kano Emirate.
In 1990 courtesy of Madakin Kano Umaru, he was turbaned as Danruwata, later elevated to Tafida, Sarkin dawakin tsakar gida, and Chiroma(Crown Prince). Presently the 14th Fulani Emir of kano Under Usman Dan fodio Sokoto Sultanate. Allah ya ja zamanin sarki! ya jikan sarki Ado!
