Terrorist Attack in Chaambi – 34 Suspects Arrested in Kasserine

Thirty four individuals suspected to have ties with the terrorist group, who targeted the national army in Mount Chaambi, were arrested Saturday in Kasserine during a raid of the police, according to security forces sources in the region.

The security raids which started the day before include several districts in Kasserine : El Karma, Ezzouhour, Argoub Mimoun, Kodya moussa…

These intervention allowed to arrest 11 suspects including a psychiatrist who works in the Kasserine regional hospital and two women.

The other suspects were arrested in Feriana, Majel Belabbes and Hassi Al Ferid.

The police investigates the persons arrested to be then transferred to Tunis, according to the same source which specified that these individuals are suspected of complicity with the terrorist organisations. Some of them took part in the event marking the “celebration” of the terrorist attack of Chaambi or expressed their sympathy with the terrorists. The police raids will continue notably after the arrival of security reinforcement from the capital.

The Interior Ministry asserted, in a statement, that among the other 63 individuals arrested during a large security campaign led in Sidi Bouzid, Kasserine and El Kef, figure the terrorist Makram Mouelhi. The latter is wanted for belonging to a terrorist organisation, terrorist actions on the Tunisian territory and premeditated homicide.
