SOLDIERS RAID KAWURI
* Kills 50 Boko Haram insurgents

The tide of the ongoing military expedition to flush out Boko Haram insurgents, who had taken control of certain towns in the North East part of the country began to turn yesterday when soldiers raided and killed 50 Boko Haram insurgents in their hide-out in Kawuri.
Defence sources disclosed that the insurgents had massed in the town in preparation for an attack on Konduga.
Some hardware weapons, food items and personal belongings were also destroyed in the raid.
The gun duel that ensued left one officer and two soldiers seriously wounded. The statement added that the trio are in stable condition.
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) in a statement yesterday also said it will ensure that the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country was protected with all its might.
Report says fighters jets of the Nigeria Air Force embarked on numerous bombing raids while ground troops moved in and mopped up.
It was gathered that the army captured one fabricated artillery gun, two anti-aircraft guns, armoured vehicle and assorted types of ammunition after routing the insurgents.
Also destroyed in the raid carried out by soldiers were some hardware, weapons, food items, and personal belongings.
