Angelina Jolie Set To Direct Conservationist Richard Leakey Biopic ‘Africa

The Hollywood star has signed on to direct another drama based on real life events.
Angelina Jolie has already found her next directorial project, and it is another story based on the real life of an extraordinary individual. The 39 year-old actress has signed on to take the helm of a biopic about paleoanthropologist and conservationist Richard Leakey.

The forthcoming flick, which will be titled ‘Africa,’ will focus on Leakey’s efforts and battles to stop ivory poachers who targeted Africa’s elephants.

Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth has scribed the screenplay for the Skydance Productions drama, which will be Jolie’s fourth directorial outing.So, Brad Pitt And Angelina Jolie Are Married. Here’s What They’re Doing Career-Wise
“I’ve felt a deep connection to Africa and its culture for much of my life,” and was taken with Eric’s beautiful script about a man drawn into the violent conflict with elephant poachers who emerged with a deeper understanding of man’s footprint and a profound sense of responsibility for the world around him,” said Jolie in a statement.
Skydance Chief Executive David Ellison, who will produced the film along with Dana Goldberg, added, “Africa is a story that deserves to be told. It is very close to my heart, and I know that it will exceed my expectations in Angelina’s hands. She is an incredibly talented filmmaker and is sure to turn Eric Roth’s impeccable script into the project I’ve always wanted Skydance to be involved in.”

Jolie’s latest directorial project, the World War II drama ‘Unbroken,’ which depicts the true story of war hero and Olympian Louis Zamperini, is due out later this year. The Hollywood star is currently in production on the Universal drama, which she wrote and is directing, ‘By the Sea,’ starring alongside her husband Brad Pitt.
