An activist who hails from Erin-Ijesa in Oriade State constituency, Comrade Adedeji Adedayo Gbenga,(Gbenga-Justice) on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 declared his intention to aspire as an Honourable member to the State of Osun House of Assembly at his ward 2, Erin-Ijesa, APC secretariat.
In his declaration speech, Comrade Adedeji promised to initiate passage of people’s friendly legislation, policies and programmes that will further promote and consolidate Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led administration’s six point integral action plan if given the democratic mandate to serve.
The comrade aspirant promised to commit 50% of his monthly salary to promote sports, education through debate competitions in primary and secondary schools, women empowerment programmes, support for the aged, scholarship and capacity building /training for constituent persons.
According to him, his aspiration is necessitated by the dire need to advance humanity by creating an enabling environment for general development at grassroot level vie enactment of peoples’ friendly legislations.
He lavishes praise on the incumbent leadership and members of the State of Osun House of Assembly for their support for prompt passage of people’s oriented bills which has eased the government execution of projects.
In his words, “the legislature in the State of Osun under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Nojeem Salam has so far shown true virtue of the parliament in a sound and participatory democracy through its enactment, approval and promotion of peoples’ friendly legislation which is undoubtedly instrumental to the speedy and obvious dividend of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led administration’s six point integral action plan.
“Today, it is truism that the State of Osun has since November, 2010, been witnessing unprecedented development in all facets of our lives due to the emergence of a visionary, dynamic and creative Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola as the Executive Governor, State of Osun through hard-earned legal battles.
“However, it is in bid to consolidate on this exemplary governance that I desire to represent you as honourable member of the State of Osun House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2015 general elections. This position will undoubtedly enhance as well as consolidate on the peace, progress and prosperity currently evolving in the State of Osun and act as a catalyst for the promotion of democracy, good governance and development in Nigeria and Africa.”

CONSOLIDATING ON GOOD GOVERNANCE IN THE STATE OF OSUN
It is with great pleasure and huge sense of humility that I welcome the leaders, Elders, faithfuls and loyalists of our great party the All Progressives’ Congress, representatives of market women, community and youth associations, greatest Nigerians students, comrades, friends, family, members of the press and other well wishers who painstakingly out of their tight and rather busy schedule find time to be part of this history making and the public declaration of my intention to be the flag-bearer of our noble party as Honourable member to the State of Osun House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2015 general elections in Nigeria.

ROLES OF LEGISLATURE IN A DEMOCRACY
While we are aware that democracy is the government of the people, by the people and for the people. It is a set of constitutional rules and procedures that is embedded with ideas and principles about freedom and betterment of the society.
Good governance in the other hand is the government that meets and satisfies the yearnings and needs of the people in terms of development and good life. It is governance that promotes self actualization, abhors poverty, and recognizes the inalienable rights of the citizens to education, good health, roads and water system to mention just few.
All these attributes of sound and participatory democracy (good governance) can only be realized through a vibrant, effective and efficient legislature.
The legislature is the arm of government saddled with the constitutional responsibility to enact, amend and make laws, monitor and evaluate project execution and policy compliance and most importantly engage with their constituents on issues of concerns, urgent needs and importance to better the living standard of the electorates. These are the ingredients that grease and ease the actualization of good governance in a sound and vibrant democracy.
The legislature in the State of Osun under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Nojeem Salam has so far shown true virtue of the parliament in a sound and participatory democracy through its enactment, approval and promotion of peoples’ friendly legislation which is undoubtedly instrumental to the speedy and obvious dividend of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led administration’s six point integral action plan”, in banishing poverty, hunger, unemployment-through creation of job/wealth, restoration of healthy living, promotion of functional education and enhancement of communal peace and progress.

However, it is in bid to consolidate on this exemplary governance that I, ADEDEJI ADEDAYO GBENGA declare before you our party leaders, stalwarts, youth and women group and the good people of ORIADE State Constituency of my utmost desire to represent you as honourable member of the State of Osun House of Assembly in the forthcoming 2015 general elections.
MY ATTAINABLE VISION
As an activist with revolutionary background and proven track records in students ‘and pro-democracy movements as well as democratic institutions, I Adedeji Adedayo Gbenga, do solemnly swear before GOD ALMIGHTY and YOU, the good people of ORIADE STATE CONSTITUENCY that as your representative in the State House of Assembly, I shall initiate people’s oriented and friendly legislations, policies and programmes that will further promote the Six Point Integral Action Plan of Ogbeni Rauf sAregbesola led administration. This position will undoubtedly enhance as well as consolidate on the peace, progress and prosperity currently evolving in the State of Osun and act as a catalyst for the promotion of democracy, good governance and development in Nigeria and Africa through the following process;
• LAW-MAKING: Lawmaking is the foremost function of a legislature as it is the direct source of legislation. Law is regarded as the expression of the will of the people. As a law maker, I shall ;
• Initiate bills in the promotion of the six point integral action plan of Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola led administration;
• Support prompt passage of similar bills
• Support quick passage of appropriation bills
• Sponsor and Support bills for the amendment of obsolete and anti people laws, decrees and statues
• Initiate bills that will enhance the well being of the good people of Oriade State Constituency.
• POLICY MAKING: I shall be committed to making policies resolutions and recommendations that will aid and enable the executive arm of government in its discharge of its duties
• OVER-SIGHT FUNCTIONS: I shall ensure alongside with others for appropriate monitoring and periodical evaluation of budget performance and policy implementation by the Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the government.
• DEFENCE OF FEDERALISM AND CONSTITUTIONALISM: Federalism is a system of government in which sovereignty is constitutionally divided between a central governing authority and constituent political units. I shall uphold and defend vehemently the principles of fiscal federalism which guarantees regional economic development and general growth. Needless to add, this fiscal federalism is what our party APC is known to always advocate for.
CONSTITUENCY TOWN HALL MEETINGS:
I shall encourage effective and efficient communication and feedback mechanism through;
• Functional constituency’s offices in the two zones of the State’s Constituency.
• Regular convocation of constituency’s town hall meetings. All the communities will be carried along in this initiative.
• Periodic stakeholders’ meetings
• Yearly end of the year get together.
• Enlightenment programmes on national, continental and global issues.
• AUXILIARY SERVICES: I shall commit 50% of my monthly salary which will be managed by reputable individuals that are democratically constituted by stakeholders in the State Constituency for the under listed purposes;
• Capacity building and vocational training
• Promotion of sporting and debating competitions in and between Secondary schools across the constituency
• Women Empowerment and Support for the Aged.
• Support for and Scholarship award to indigent students.
Having said all these, I want to assure my good people of Oriade that I shall be committed entirely to further laudable initiatives, programmes and policies that will place our Constituency at a vantage position on the map of the LAND OF VIRTUE and beyond.
As I stand before you all today, my vision and mission for this Constituency is predicted on my faith in the most High God, that He shall be my shield and strength sand grant unto me enablement to uphold my pledges and serve humanity with all my heart.

C’est avec grand plaisir et un grand sentiment d’humilité que je salue les fidèles dirigeants, anciens, et loyalistes de notre grande fête de Congrès des tous les progressistes, des représentants d’associations de femmes, de communauté et de jeunes marché, plus grands étudiants nigérians, camarades, amis, famille, membres de la presse et autres bien intentionnés qui, laborieusement par leur calendrier serré et assez occupé, trouver du temps pour faire partie de cette histoire faisant ainsi que la déclaration publique de mon intention d’être le porte-drapeau de la notre noble parti comme député à l’Assemblée législative état d’Osun, dans les prochaines élections générales de 2015 au Nigeria.

RÔLES DE LÉGISLATEUR DANS UNE DÉMOCRATIE
Alors que nous sommes conscients que la démocratie est le gouvernement du peuple, par le peuple et pour le peuple. C’est un ensemble de règles constitutionnelles et des procédures qui est incorporé avec les idées et les principes de liberté et de l’amélioration de la société.
Bonne gouvernance en revanche est le gouvernement qui répond et satisfait les désirs et besoins de la population en termes de développement et de la bonne vie. C’est la gouvernance qui favorise l’actualisation de soi, a horreur de la pauvreté et reconnaît les droits inaliénables des citoyens à l’éducation, bonne santé, routes et réseau d’aqueduc de mentionner juste quelques.
Tous ces attributs de sonore et participative de la démocratie (bonne gouvernance) ne peuvent être réalisées que par une Assemblée législative dynamique et efficace.
Le législateur est le bras du gouvernement, aux prises avec la responsabilité constitutionnelle d’adopter, modifier et faire des lois, surveiller et évaluer l’exécution et conformité à la politique et surtout s’engager avec leurs électeurs sur des questions, des préoccupations, besoins urgents et d’importance afin d’améliorer le niveau de vie des électorats. Tels sont les ingrédients qui la graisse et de faciliter l’actualisation de la bonne gouvernance dans une démocratie saine et dynamique.
