In his newest play, Toyin Abiodun, Runner-Up Award-Winner of the 2014 Wole Soyinka Prize for Literature in Africa, puts two princes – Prince Shutnose of the Kingdom of Gineria and Prince Lungnose of Euroka Kingdom – on a do-or-die battlefield to fight for the hand of Princess Ruka, a bridal-virgin spirit who was raised by Dolphins and Mermaids after she had fallen into the oceanic kingdom of Axlanticos in a shipwreck that also involved her royal parents, King Dhambuja and Queen Khara.
Ruka has such great wealth as can never finish!: and whoever marries her becomes eternally rich. The best part is that all the subjects of the kingdom of the prince who wins the duel and marries Ruka also become rich forever! The question now is who wins the hand of Ruka?: Prince Shutnose or Prince Lungnose
You may find out at the Arts Theatre of the University of Ibadan on November 28th, 29th & 30th, 2014 as the world stands still to remember Alfred Nobel (1833-1896), Founder of the Nobel Prize, who signed his will bequeathing the Prize to all of us 119years ago with a live stage production of Toyin Abiodun’s ‘Princess Ruka and the Bachelor Kings’ @ 7p.m. daily.
