Senator Lekan Balogun urged President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to run for a second term in office, come 2015 and encouraged the people of Oyo state to detest fascism and truants who don’t have anything to offer the state and the nation .
The Minister of State for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Olajumoke Akinjide, in her remark at the rally was emphatic in declaring the support of the zone for President Jonathan, stressing that anybody saying anything contrary was only deceiving him or herself.
She pledged that the people of the zone would vote massively for President Jonathan, come 2015, in order for the zone to have more dividends of democracy. Speaking in the same vein, the Minister of Police Affairs, Alhaji Jelili Adesiyan, said pointedly that those ganging up against the re-election of President Jonathan were working against God because, in his own words, it was God that raised him up for this moment in the political history of the country.
Adesiyan asked rhetorically, querying that “as a zone, what did we benefit from the Federal Government in the whole of eight years when we had our own person there?”
“The Lagos/Ibadan expressway that is wearing a new look was there when our own son was there among other laudable things the President is doing for our zone,” Adesiyan said.

Besides corruption and insecurity, the Jonathan administration is persistently criticised over the huge unemployed population in the country.
The government has always pointed to its Small and Medium Scale support programme, Youwin, which gives grants to youth annually
President Jonathan also lauded South-West leaders for promoting equity, human rights, saying he will continue to respect and work with people from the zone.
The president also said the votes of Nigerian women will either liberate or sanction them to the kitchen, urging women to vote for PDP.
