Governor Ajimobi’s hopes of reckoning with history and breaking the political jinx in Oyo state might not be that undaunting as mammoth crowd, party stalwarts and organisations declared their support and loyalty for the governor on Saturday at the Mapo Hall in Ibadan. The arena was full of the ‘who is who’ in Yorubaland. Chief Bisi Akande and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Bola Tinubu presented the crowd with historical facts and antecedent of many elements within the rank and file of Nigeria polity especially the south west Axis.
Chief Bisi Akande declared his wishes by asking all party stalwarts and members to go round and plead on behalf of the party with the goal of reconciling people back to APC because “we want a party that spread across all the geographical zone of Nigeria.”
Gov. Olagunsi Oyinlola, Fmr Gov. State of Osun called the voters to support Ajimobi because he signifies continuity and on the other hand assured the people that God will end Jonathan’s administration. During his speech, he called for peace and common understanding within the ranks and file of Yoruba land.
Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State at the event described the All Progressives Congress as the only party that could promote development in all sectors of the national economy. Ajimobi, the APC governorship candidate in Oyo State said this at Mapo Hall in Ibadan during the commencement of his re-election campaign. The governor said he deserved a second term in office as a result of his achievements and maintained that the successes he recorded were unmatched in the history of the state.
Also speaking at the forum, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State, advised the people of the state to monitor their votes until they were counted. He also implored the people of the state to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards before the polls. “Just like Fayemi worked in Ekiti, Ajimobi has turned Oyo State around for the better; so it is better to allow him to continue for another four years,” he said.
A former governor of Lagos State and APC National leader, Bola Tinubu, described Ajimobi as a dependable and reliable leader.
Many Yoruba artistes including Saheed Balogun showed their support by storming the rally to campaign for the continuity of the governor. Musician, 9ice, dazzled the crowd with ‘Juwon Lo.’
