The Zambia Visual Arts Council (ZVAC) has unveiled Zambia’s longest painting which was done by more than 2,000 pupils drawn from various schools countrywide.

During the launch of the 1.8 kilometre painting in the Lusaka show grounds yesterday, United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) Country Representative Hamid El-Bashir Ibrahim said the canvas has great meaning because it is a masterpiece that was depicting Zambia’s history.
Mr Ibrahim said the expressive painting was a good initiative because it motivates pupils to engage in expressive arts thereby promoting their talents.
Zambia Visual Arts Council Coordinator Mulenga Chafilwa commended the pupils drawn from 50 government schools for the brilliant painting that teaches about different sectors of the nation.
Mr Chafilwa hoped that the painting will be displayed in other nine provinces country wide.
ZAMTEL Chief Marketing Officer Evans Mhanga, whose company pumped in K50,000 in the painting project, said he was delighted that the vision that involved young people has been realised.
