IVORY COAST WIN THE 2014 AFRICA CUP OF NATIONS
What an amazing way to finish it. They could not be separated after 90 minutes. They could not be separated after an additional 30. The regular five penalties could not separate them either and it went all the way to the goalkeepers in sudden death. Braimah had his saved by Barry, who then stepped up to score the deciding kick.
Congratulations to Ivory Coast, who are now celebrating wildly awaiting the trophy; commiserations to Ghana, who will no doubt be very proud of their impressive efforts though it may take some time for the feeling of sadness to evaporate. I’m off to enter a dark room.

This is ridiculous. Barry is down and now getting treatment. There is plenty of magic spray on his wrist but it’s his foot which will decide Ivory Coast’s destiny.

Braimah does not look confident and Barry dives to save it. The Ivory Coast keeper sinks to his knees – but he must get up, the destination of the title depends on his penalty kick!

Kolo Toure, who missed three years ago, goes for power and scores this time. We’re going to be here all night!
Sportsmail’s Jonny Singer: Asamoah Gyan starts for Ghana, despite concerns about his fitness. The former Sunderland striker has had an action-packed tournament, missing the first game with Malaria, before scoring a crucial last-gasp winner against Algeria, and then picking up an injury in the quarter-final.
He may not be 100 per cent, but psychologically his presence, alongside Cambridge United’s Kwesi Appiah up front, is a huge boost for the Black Stars.
As well as a football match, the Cup of Nations final provides some bigwigs with a networking opportunity. Luis Figo is here, hoping to give his FIFA Presidential candidacy a boost by shaking hands with all the right people. But it’s unlikely to do him much good, Africa is very much Sepp Blatter’s territory when it comes to support.
Ivory Coast XI to play Ghana: Barry; Aurier, Tiene, K. Toure, Bailly; Kanon, Serey; Gradel, Y. Toure, Gervinho ; Bony.
Ghana XI to play Ivory Coast: Braimah, Afful, Rahman, Mensah, Boye, Wakaso, Acquah, Ayew, Atsu, Gyan, Appiah.
