Despite the fact that Nigeria has the largest mobile phone subscriber base in Africa with mobile internet data subscriptions reaching 65 million monthly, according to the Nigeria Communications Commission, a recent report shows that Nigerians use their computers more than their mobile devices to make bookings for hotels online.
The report, released by leading online hotel booking platform in Africa, Jovago found that ‘the usage of the good-old PC registers as the most popular device used when online bookings are carried’ on its platform. Now this is in spite of the huge influx of smartphones into the Nigerian market as well as the decrease in the cost of mobile data services from telecom operators.
However, a look at the rate at which smartphones are gaining high adoption rates, it is expected that these mobile devices would be utilized more frequently than the PC in the coming years.
