President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday expressed confidence that posterity will judge his outgoing administration right.
According to Jonathan, his government has delivered the dividends of democracy in various sectors of the economy, particularly in the power sector as he claimed that the sector presently generates 6, 000 megawatts of electricity.
Jonathan lost to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, in the March 28, 2015 presidential election and he is expected to hand over on the 29th of this month to a new government.
Jonathan said, “Let me reiterate our firm belief and respect for democracy and its norms and values and our continued commitment to the progress and prosperity of our dear nation.
“To this regard, we shall continue to make our contributions to the development of our dear country as patriotic citizens. We are confident that posterity shall place us on the right side of history.
“I will take this opportunity to also assure all Nigerians that all the decisions and project implementation of both NDPHC and the National Council on Privatisation, all decisions are taken on the basis of sound professional advice and sound decision to ensure that we succeed in Nigeria in providing power successfully for the benefit of the country and our economic development.”
He said the country currently has a power generation level of 6,000 megawatts.
This claim is, however, in contrast of the 3,413.1MW recorded as peak power generation as of May 11, 2015 which was contained on the website of the Federal Ministry of Power on Monday.
Jonathan said, “At present, the nation’s power generation level as confirmed by the minister of power is about 6,000MW and we can wheel up to 5,500MW.”
The President explained that prior to the advent of the Gwagwalada substation, Abuja and all of FCT and Nasarawa State were supplied by a 330kV double circuit line and a 132kV double circuit line from Shiroro Hydro power station terminating at Katampe 330/132/33kV substation and Apo 132/33kV Substation respectively.
He said other locations within the FCT and Nasarawa State were supplied via various 132kV lines from Katampe and Apo.
Jonathan said, “Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV substation was conceived as a location and sited in Gwagwalada in the outskirts of Abuja metropolis as one of the nodes in a 330kV transmission ring that will provide secured supply to the Federal Capital Territory and Abuja in particular.
“Connection to Gwagwalada was, therefore, engineered as an evacuation substation facility for Geregu NIPP power plant to the FCT 330kV ring via an initial 222.6kms 330kV double circuit line from Geregu (Ajaokuta) to Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV substation with a final 30kms 330kV double circuit construction. This tees into one of the original Shiroro-Abuja (Katampe) 330kV DC lines thus achieving a 330kV alternative (thermal) power source to Abuja.”

Selon Jonathan, son gouvernement a livré les dividendes de la démocratie dans divers secteurs de l’économie, en particulierdans le secteur de l’énergie, comme il le prétendait que lesecteur génère actuellement 6, 000 mégawatts d’électricité.
Jonathan perd contre le candidat du Congrès tous lesprogressistes, Muhammadu Buhari, lors de l’électionprésidentielle du 28 mars 2015 et il est prévu de remettre le 29de ce mois à un nouveau gouvernement.
Le Président a parlé par le biais de son adjoint, Namadi Sambo,lors de l’inauguration officielle du Niger Delta Power HoldingCompany/National Integrated Power Plant Gwagwalada330/132/33KV poste de transport à Abuja.
« À cet égard, nous continuerons de faire notre contribution audéveloppement de notre cher pays comme des citoyenspatriotiques. Nous sommes convaincus que la postérité doit nousplacer sur le côté droit de l’histoire.
« Je vais prendre cette occasion pour également assurer tous lesNigérians que toutes les décisions et la mise en œuvre de projetde NDPHC et le Conseil National sur la Privatisation, toutes lesdécisions sont prises sur la base des conseils avisés deprofessionnels et de la décision raisonnable pour s’assurer quenous parviendrons au Nigéria, en fournissant la puissance avec succès dans l’intérêt du pays et de notre développementéconomique. »
Le pays dispose actuellement d’un niveau de génération depuissance de 6 000 mégawatts, dit-il.
Cependant, cette affirmation est à l’opposé du 3, 413.1MWenregistré comme la production d’électricité maximale en date du 11 mai 2015 qui figurait sur le site Web du ministère dupouvoir fédéral lundi.
Jonathan a dit, « à l’heure actuelle, le niveau de génération depuissance de la nation comme l’a confirmé le ministre du pouvoirest environ de 6, 000 MW et nous pouvons roue jusqu’à 5, 500MW. »
Le Président a expliqué que, avant l’avènement de la sous-stationde Gwagwalada, Abuja et l’ensemble de la CFPI et l’état deNassarawa ont été fournis par une ligne à double circuit 330kV etune ligne à double circuit 132kV de Shiroro Hydro power stationà destination de Katampe 330/132/33kV sous-station et Apo132/33kV sous-station respectivement.
Il a dit qu’ailleurs dans le FCT et l’état de Nassarawa ont étéfournis par l’intermédiaire de diverses lignes de 132kV deKatampe et Apo.
Jonathan a dit: « Gwagwalada 330/132/33kV sous-station a étéconçue comme un lieu et installée en Gwagwalada dans lapériphérie de la métropole d’Abuja comme l’un des nœuds dansun anneau de transmission 330kV qui fournira sûrapprovisionnement au territoire de la capitale fédérale et Abujaen particulier.
« Connexion à Gwagwalada a été, par conséquent, sous la formed’un équipement de sous-station d’évacuation pour les GereguNIPP centrale à l’anneau de 330kV CFPI via un 222.6kms initial330kV ligne de double circuit de centrale (Ajaokuta) au poste de330/132/33kV Gwagwalada avec une construction de doublecircuit 330kV final de 30 km. Ce tés dans l’une des lignesoriginales de DC 330kV de Shiroro-Abuja (Katampe) afind’obtenir une source d’énergie (thermique) de rechange 330kV àAbuja”.
