Norway will next year contribute to the the UN’s transport services in the West African nation of Mali, by sending a Hercules transport plane and related ground crews.

The Norwegians will for six months transport supplies to the UN camps in the country.

– The UN has especially asked for transport aircraft in order to sternegthen the transport capacity in the MINUSMA operation, and we are pleased to be eble to help, says Norwegian Defence Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide.

Norway wil also contribute by sending several more staff officers to the MINUSMA headquarters, as well as ten officers to the EU Military Traning program in Mali.
