dayoOladayo A. Okeniyi was born on June 14, 1988 in Lagos, Nigeria, and has four siblings.

His father is a retired customs officer from Nigeria, and his mother is a literature teacher from Kenya. In 2003, Dayo (as he is fondly called) moved with his family from Nigeria to Indiana, United States.

Dayo, the youngest of five siblings earned a bachelor’s degree in visual communications at Anderson University (Indiana) in 2009.

After College he decided to move to Los Angeles, California to pursue acting, his true passion.

In 2014, he starred in the drama film Endless Love.

Danny Dyson plays a crucial role in Terminator: Genisys and is played by the man known for his role as Thresh in The Hunger Games, Dayo Okeniyi.

Similarly, Okeniyi has typically played supporting characters in Hollywood films like The Hunger Games and Runner Runner – but his work in American Backwoods: Slew Hampshire represents his first as a leading man.

Despite being his only foray into the horror genre to date, his performance as “Bro” – the reluctant hero amidst an ensemble of creeps, cretins and creatures – has been widely lauded and even garnered him a nomination for “Best Actor” at the Shockfest Film Festival.

In addition to all these, Dayo also co-stars with 45-year-old actress and singer, Jennifer Lopez in a steamy new NBC crime drama, Shades of Blue.
