Voting has commenced for the Nigeria Entertainment Awards (NEA) 2015 which will hold on Sept. 5, in New York City, U.S..

This was made known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Saturday in Lagos by Tope Esan the Executive Producer of the award.

Esan said that this year’s edition would mark the 10th anniversary of the awards, and added that the organisers were working very hard to make it a memorable occasion.

He told NAN that the NEA had always strived to produce a top class event over the years and stressed that this year’s edition would be ‘extra-special’ since it was a major anniversary year.

“The objective of the NEA has been to showcase the best of Nigeria and Africa and we have never wavered in that resolve

But we are taking it a notch higher this year and it will be a much bigger experience and better package for the nominees and the guests all over the world,” he said.

NAN reports that there are 39 categories of the awards which span across the movies, music, comedy by Nigerians all over the world and recognitions for other African artistes.

The nominees were earlier announced in Lagos on June 11.

Some of this year’s nominees are Yemi Alade, Kiss Daniel, Skales, Kenneth Okolie, Wizkid, Korede Bello, Wole Ojo, Flavour, Seyi Shay, Omawumi and Olamide.

The NEA Awards was established in New York City in January 2005 by, Martin Fayomi, Tope Esan, Cosmas Collins and Azeem Jolasun to serve the growing African population in North America.

Some past winners of the awards include 2Face Idibia, Don Jazzy, M.I, Tiwa Savage, Basketmouth and Davido.

It is an annual event focused on recognising the contributions of African Entertainers to the entertainment world
