Three Awards Go To Egyptian Filmmaker At The Final Cut Venice Workshop

Director Sherif El Bendary received three awards for his new film within Final Cut in Venice workshop as part of the ongoing installment of Venice International Film Festival

The Egyptian filmmaker Sherif El Bendary received three financial awards for his film Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim, that is still in the production phase, reported MAD Solutions, a Cairo-based company that specialises in public relations and marketing for the film and entertainment industry.

The award, totaling 30,000 euros, was presented to the director during the Final Cut in Venice workshop, part of the ongoing installment of Venice International Film Festival.

The award consists of 10,000 euros given by the Paris-based Centre National du Cinema et de L’Image Animee (CNC) foundation to be spent in post-production phase in France, 10,000 euros provided by the French Knightworks to be spent on the visual and special effects, and 10,000 euros provided by Titra TVS to be spent on digital colours correction, DCP bar and providing film subtitles into French or English.

Directed by Sherif El Bendary, Ali, the Goat and Ibrahim was written by Ahmed Amer and is based on Ibrahim El Batout’s story. The film was produced by Mohamed Hefzy’s Fortress Film Clinic and Hossam Elouan’s Transit Films.

The film stars Ali Sobhy, Ahmed Magdy alongside Salwa Mohamed Ali and Nahed El Sebai.

The film is scheduled for release later this year.
