Bashir made these remarks at the Algerian capital’s Houari Boumediene airport where he completed a three-day visit in which he discussed the areas of joint economic and political cooperation.

He called for “supporting international cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, organized crime and drugs trafficking, arms and human beings smuggling, in order to promote respect for human rights”.

The Sudanese leader stressed that there was “joint work between Algeria and Sudan in order to stabilize the situation in Libya, Syria, Iraq and Yemen,” without providing details on the nature of this work.

Bashir stressed that his talks with Algerian officials “allowed for addressing several regional and international issues, especially Algeria’s positive role in stabilizing the situation in Mali and Libya and the Arab world, and that there is a convergence in the positions of the two countries for all regional and international political issues”.

In Khartoum, the Sudanese Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour described the visit as successful and said that the two leaders discussed issues of common interests, especially strengthening political relations along with economic and investment cooperation.

Bashir underscored his care and support of Algerian investments in Sudan, Ghandour said noting that they agreed to launch a maritime line between the two countries and air flights to Khartoum to facilitate the movement of trade and citizens.

“Talks between the two countries discussed Arab political issues, especially what is happening in Libya, Syria, Yemen and Iraq alongside Arab-Arab relations, and how to cement and overcome all adversity with the Arab region,” Ghandour added.

Talks also touched on the issues of the African continent and bringing peace to the region next to cases of terrorism and human trafficking in Africa.
