Central African Republic: Avoiding an Electoral Flare-up

Ex-Seleka and anti-balaka combatants have been marching on the capital Bangui, aiming at direct confrontation. The prospect of presidential elections, planned for December, is fuelling tensions further. After the latest outbreak of violence in late September the risk of escalation of intercommunal clashes has heightened.
