Central African Republic: Avoiding an Electoral Flare-up

Ex-Seleka and anti-balaka combatants have been marching on the capital Bangui, aiming at direct confrontation. The prospect of presidential elections, planned for December, is fuelling tensions further. After the latest outbreak of violence in late September the risk of escalation of intercommunal clashes has heightened. In this article in French, Central Africa Project Director Thierry Vircoulon and Central Africa Analyst Thibaud Lesueur question the priorities of the international community and evaluate possible pathways to avert further bloodshed
