The Sultan of Sokoto and President General Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar has declared Thursday, May 13 as Sallah day.
The Sultan, in a press release issued and made available to newsmen in his palace Tuesday in Sokoto said the Sultanate Council moon sighting committee and national moon sighting committee did not receive report from any quarter across the country.
“The Sultanate Council Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs in conjunction with the national moon sighting committee did not receive any report from various moon sighting committees across the country confirming the sighting of the new moon of Shawal 1442.
“Ramadan fast will therefore continue tomorrow Wednesday, 12th May 2021 as the 30th day of Ramadan.
“Consequently, Thursday 13th May, 2021 is hereby declared as 1st of Shawal, 1442 AH and the day of Eid-il-fitr.
“The Council prays that Almighty Allah accept our fasting and other virtuous acts in Ramadan and grant us all peaceful and blissful Eid celebrations.
“Wassalamu alaikum wa-Rahmatullah.”
