India to Mandate Domestic Airlines Share Weather Data with IMD for Enhanced Forecasting

Under this new directive, airlines will be expected to share data such as temperature, wind speed, humidity, and other meteorological parameters that could influence flight operations. This data will then be used by IMD experts to generate more accurate weather predictions, ensuring safer flights and potentially reducing delays caused by unexpected weather changes.

This decision is seen as a significant step forward in fostering cooperation between India’s aviation and meteorological sectors, both of which play vital roles in ensuring public safety and operational efficiency. As the country continues to see rapid growth in air travel, this initiative will help to address challenges posed by unpredictable weather conditions, benefiting both passengers and airlines alike.
