PIA Flight PK244 Declares Emergency on Dammam to Lahore Route

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight PK244, en route from Dammam to Lahore, was forced to declare an emergency mid-flight on January 16, 2024, due to an unforeseen technical issue. The flight, carrying passengers from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, encountered a problem shortly after takeoff, prompting the crew to take precautionary measures.

The pilot immediately notified air traffic control and requested a return to Dammam for an emergency landing. Emergency services were on standby at the airport to assist with the situation. Thankfully, the aircraft landed safely without any injuries reported among the passengers or crew members.

PIA has confirmed that the safety of its passengers was the top priority and assured that investigations into the cause of the technical malfunction would be carried out. While the airline commended the professionalism of the flight crew, it also emphasized that passenger safety and well-being remain their utmost concern. A replacement flight is being arranged to continue the journey to Lahore, with the airline offering support and assistance to the affected passengers.
