Tension Escalates in Baringo as Bandits Kill Two in Targeted Attack on Livestock and Businesses

Tension has escalated in Baringo County following a deadly bandit attack in Kosile village, Baringo North sub-county. Two individuals, Raymond Kwonyike (35) and his elder brother Moses Kwonyike (45), were fatally shot while searching for their stolen livestock near River Sibilo. The assailants, suspected to be from the neighboring Tiaty sub-county, also made off with six cows and several goats. Moses Kwonyike remains hospitalized with gunshot wounds. 

This incident brings the total number of deaths in Baringo County to four within a week, highlighting the persistent threat posed by armed bandits in the region. Despite ongoing security operations, residents continue to live in fear as such attacks disrupt daily life and local businesses.

Authorities have deployed police officers to pursue the attackers and recover the stolen livestock. Baringo County Police Commander Julius Kiragu has urged residents to provide information that could lead to the apprehension of the criminals. The community remains on high alert as efforts to restore peace and security continue.
