flynas to Outfit 60 Airbus A320neo Aircraft with Safran’s Next-Generation Economy Seats

Saudi low-cost carrier flynas has announced a major cabin upgrade initiative, confirming that it will equip 60 of its new Airbus A320neo aircraft with next-generation economy class seats from Safran Seats, a global leader in aircraft seating solutions. The move underscores flynas’s commitment to enhancing passenger comfort while maintaining efficiency and maximizing aircraft performance.

The new seating, part of Safran’s Z200 series, is designed specifically for short- to medium-haul flights and features lightweight materials, optimized ergonomics, and enhanced durability. Each seat includes improved recline, USB charging ports, and personal device holders, aimed at improving passenger experience without compromising cabin density.

flynas, one of the fastest-growing airlines in the Middle East, has been rapidly expanding its fleet as part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals, which include boosting air connectivity and increasing annual passenger traffic. The seating upgrade is a key element in positioning the airline as a premium budget carrier that balances affordability with comfort and innovation.

According to the airline, the decision to partner with Safran was based on the company’s track record in delivering scalable, high-performance seating products tailored to low-cost carriers. The lightweight design of the Z200 series also contributes to reduced fuel consumption and lower emissions, aligning with flynas’s sustainability objectives.

Safran Seats CEO Vincent Mascré stated that the partnership reflects a shared focus on innovation and passenger satisfaction, adding that the seating configuration will be customized to meet flynas’s unique cabin layout and brand identity.

The retrofit is scheduled to begin in 2025, with deliveries aligned to flynas’s ongoing A320neo order stream. The aircraft will operate on domestic and regional routes, with the potential for longer routes as the airline expands its international footprint.

This partnership between flynas and Safran represents a growing trend among low-cost carriers to invest in smarter cabin interiors that enhance passenger appeal without compromising operational cost-effectiveness.
