President Kiir Reshuffles Upper Nile, Central Equatoria, and Warrap State Governments in Major Administrative Overhaul
In a significant move to reconfigure South Sudan’s regional governance, President Salva Kiir has issued a series of decrees leading to the dismissal and appointment of key officials across Upper Nile, Central Equatoria, and Warrap states.
President Kiir has dissolved the entire Upper Nile State cabinet and replaced several county commissioners. Notably, Chuol Dhep Kier has been removed as Speaker of the Upper Nile State Parliament, with Jacob Dola Ruth appointed as his successor. Additionally, MPs including Chol Kewet Anyang, Lual Deng Chol, and Simon Malueth have been replaced by Dheiu Anyong Duo, Ajak Bol Akol, and Sarah Deng Chan. County commissioners in Fashoda, Baliet, Akoka, Melut, and Renk have also been replaced, with new appointments such as Yango Olak and Martin Monykuer taking office.
In Central Equatoria, President Kiir has dismissed several ministers and advisors. The sacked officials include Joseph Gore Samuel (Legal Affairs), Jenifer Yobu Lasuba (Human Rights), Gerald Francis Nyakunya (Peacebuilding), Viana Kakule Aggrey (Finance), Wani Tom Sebit Michael (Trade and Industry), Fedrico Laku Raymond (Housing), Mawa Amos Moses (Roads and Bridges), Modi John Malou (Public Service), and Huda Michael Leila (Gender, Child and Social Welfare). They have been replaced by new appointees such as Jacob Aligo Ladu (Peacebuilding), Sallah Rajab Bunduki (Finance), Stephen Ladu Wansimo (Trade and Industry), David Morbe Aquilino (Housing), Clement Maring Samuel (Roads and Bridges), Huda Michael Laila (Public Service), and Zendia Eliza Abu (Gender, Child and Social Welfare) .
In Warrap, President Kiir has removed several officials, including the Chairperson of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission, Marko Dhal Malith, and the Chairperson of the Peace and Conflict Resolution Commission, Deng Bak Noon. These positions have been filled by Maduot Maduot and Thokriel Chileu Madhieu, respectively. Other replacements include Peter Deng Awuor Mayom as Deputy Chairperson of the Anti-corruption Commission and Ring Deng Ading as Tonj South County Commissioner. Additionally, Joseph Madut Deng has been appointed as Tonj North County Commissioner, succeeding the late Kur Kuc Agol .
These administrative changes are part of President Kiir’s ongoing efforts to strengthen governance and address regional challenges. The reshuffles come amid ongoing efforts to stabilize the country and prepare for future elections.
