Morocco has awarded contracts totaling \$500 million for the development of key expressway projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and supporting the nation’s infrastructure development.
The projects include the construction of the Rabat-Casablanca Continental Highway, the Tit Mellil-Berrechid corridor, and the upgrading of critical interchanges at Sidi Maarouf and Ain Harouda. These initiatives are part of a broader investment plan to expand Morocco’s motorway network in preparation for the 2030 World.
The Rabat-Casablanca Continental Highway is a 60-kilometer route connecting Rabat’s bypass highway to Casablanca’s bypass, with a budget of 6.5 billion MAD. The Tit Mellil-Berrechid project aims to improve regional connectivity, while the interchange upgrades are designed to ease traffic flow in key Casablanca hubs.
The investment plan, spanning from 2025 to 2032, is backed by a 12.5 billion MAD budget. The funding strategy includes contributions from the Moroccan government and the Société Nationale des Autoroutes du Maroc (ADM), with a focus on sustainable financing mechanisms.
These infrastructure developments are expected to boost economic activity, reduce travel times, and enhance safety across Morocco’s motorway network. The projects align with King Mohammed VI’s vision to expand the motorway network to 3,000 kilometers by 2030, adding over 1,000 kilometers of new highways.
As the projects progress, they are anticipated to contribute significantly to Morocco’s economic growth and its preparations for hosting the 2030 World Cup.
