The 11th edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) commenced on May 7, 2025, with a vibrant Cultural Day event held at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos. This year’s festivities are set to span four days, culminating in the grand awards ceremony on May 10, 2025.
Cultural Day served as a prelude to the main awards show, highlighting Africa’s rich heritage through music, fashion, and traditional performances. The event featured a dazzling array of attire, with celebrities and attendees donning outfits that celebrated various African cultures. Notably, Big Brother Naija alumni Liquorose and Prince were recognized for their exceptional fashion choices, earning the titles of Best Dressed Female and Male, respectively.
The AMVCA 2025 introduces several new elements, including the addition of the Best Music Score category, acknowledging the importance of music in enhancing cinematic storytelling. The awards span 28 categories, with 18 judged by a panel of experts and 10 determined through public voting.
Amstel Malta has been announced as the headline sponsor for this year’s awards, reinforcing its commitment to supporting African entertainment and storytelling.
