“This Is Evil!” – Rita Edochie Condemns Growing Trend of Child Abuse Normalized as Entertainment

Veteran Nollywood actress, Rita Edochie, has spoken out strongly against the increasing normalization of child abuse and immoral content in today’s media and society. In a passionate social media post, the outspoken actress expressed deep concern over how what was once considered taboo is now being glamorized and accepted, particularly where it involves children.

Edochie decried the disturbing trend of minors being exploited under the guise of entertainment, calling it not only immoral but dangerous. “Immorality is now being celebrated. Child abuse is no longer seen for what it truly is – a crime,” she lamented. “We are losing our values. We are failing these children.”

Her comments come amid growing public outrage over videos and skits circulating online that feature children in inappropriate settings or roles, often shared widely on social media for laughs or likes. Many Nigerians have echoed her sentiments, calling for stricter regulations and responsible content creation.

Edochie, known for her strong moral stance and advocacy for discipline and family values, urged parents, influencers, and content creators to rise up against this cultural decay. “What message are we sending to the younger generation? That anything goes, as long as it gets views?” she asked.

She concluded her message with a call to action: “Let us protect the innocence of our children. Let us not be the generation that destroyed the very foundation of our future.”

Her bold statement has since sparked widespread discussions online, with many praising her for using her platform to speak up on such a critical issue. As the conversation grows, so does the call for a collective return to moral responsibility and protection of children’s rights in entertainment and beyond.
