A Saudia Airlines flight from Jeddah to London diverted to Cairo yesterday evening after a tragic medical emergency aboard.
Shortly after takeoff on Flight SV119, cabin manager Mohsen bin Saeed Alzahrani suffered a sudden medical emergency and died while the aircraft was still airborne. The pilots promptly redirected the 777 jet to Cairo International Airport to handle the crisis and ensure the safety of the passengers and crew.
Upon landing, ambulance and medical teams boarded the aircraft, but tragically, the cabin manager could not be revived. Saudia Airlines issued a statement expressing deep sorrow over the incident and offered condolences to the family and co-workers of the deceased.
Passengers described a tense atmosphere following the captain’s announcement of the diversion, though no injuries occurred among those on board. The airline has affirmed its commitment to supporting all affected individuals during this difficult time.
Saudia Airlines also highlighted the rarity of such mid-air deaths and reiterated the importance of medical emergency preparedness on long-haul flights.
