FIVE ZANU PF affiliates in the Midlands province are the latest to benefit from the Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund after disbursements held in Kwekwe this Tuesday.
The Presidential Investment Advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara, and his team were in Kwekwe this Tuesday to distribute the empowerment funding to the affiliates as part of the broader empowerment initiatives being spearheaded by the Second Republic.
The five affiliates to benefit include cross-border for ED, Vendors for ED, Pastors for ED, Children of Zimbabwe Liberation War Veterans Association and Hair Dressers for ED.
The need to be accountable in utilising the revolving funds was the rallying point during the disbursements.
“Remember, this is a revolving fund. The funding should benefit all. For it to revolve, there is a need for ethical behaviour. We will be sending some auditors to ensure the funding is not abused,” Dr Tungwarara said.
The Midlands province welcomed the initiative, which is in line with the inclusive development agenda.
“The level of empowerment being enjoyed in the country is beginning to reach the grassroots. The President is indeed a man of the people who wants to see development getting to everyone,” Midlands Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator Owen Ncube said.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment funding say the initiative will help in shaping the way they conduct their businesses.
“This initiative will help the men of God to be capacitated. This will help them focus on preaching the word of God as opposed to focusing on looking for money from the congregation,” indicated Pastors for ED national coordinator, Reverend Idirashe Dongo.
The Presidential Empowerment Revolving Fund is one of the several initiatives being spearheaded by the Second Republic in uplifting livelihoods of previously marginalised communities in line with the inclusive development agenda.
