Masvingo gears up for investment conference to showcase economic opportunities

Masvingo Province is set to host a high-level investment conference later this month, aimed at marketing the province’s vast investment potential across various economic sectors.

Speaking during a media briefing in Masvingo on Monday, the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Honourable Ezra Chadzamira, said the conference is part of broader efforts to position Masvingo as a strategic investment destination under the national drive to attract both local and foreign direct investment, in line with Vision 2030.

“The conference’s objectives include showcasing investment opportunities, promoting understanding of Zimbabwe’s investment climate, and encouraging sustainable development and economic diversification. The format will be hybrid, with at least 300 participants attending physically and others joining virtually. This is also an opportunity for our SMES to showcase their potential and forge partnerships with other companies and investors for growth. As you are aware, SMEs are very important, and they play a key role in improving our Provincial Gross Domestic Product,” he said.

Minister Chadzamira emphasised that the conference will serve as a platform for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to network with potential investors and partners, enabling them to expand operations and contribute more meaningfully to the local economy.

Masvingo Province, known for its abundant natural resources and strategic location, will use the upcoming event to market opportunities in key sectors such as agriculture, mining, tourism, manufacturing, and infrastructure development.

The province boasts over 50 percent of Zimbabwe’s total dam capacity, vast tracts of arable land, and valuable mineral deposits, including lithium and gold. It is also home to major tourist attractions such as the iconic Great Zimbabwe Monuments and the expansive Gonarezhou National Park.

Masvingo’s positioning along the newly rehabilitated Harare–Beitbridge highway and its proximity to regional trade corridors further enhance its appeal as a lucrative investment hub.

Running under the theme: “Invest in Masvingo Your Gateway to Economic Growth for Vision 2030,” the conference builds on the momentum from successful engagements held recently in Manicaland and Midlands provinces.
