Minister of Oil and Gas, Khalifa Abdel-Sadiq, signed a memorandum of understanding on Monday with Aseel Younes, acting head of the Renewable Energy Authority, to support the country’s energy transition and expand the use of clean energy.
The agreement aims to strengthen cooperation in renewable energy and energy efficiency, through joint projects in solar and wind power at oil sites, as well as the exchange of technical expertise and studies.
It also seeks to align national energy policies, promote training and awareness programmes, and help cut emissions while improving the environmental performance of the oil sector.
A joint technical committee will be formed to oversee implementation and draft a detailed action plan. The agreement also calls for coordination to tap into international funding and initiatives for renewable energy.
The initiative is part of the ministry’s broader vision to support energy transition, promote sustainable development, and secure a clean and safe energy future for coming generations.
