PRESIDENT Emmerson Mnangagwa is expected to officially open the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands in Victoria Falls this Thursday.
The event, held in the iconic Wetland City of Victoria Falls, is a milestone for Zimbabwe as the country assumes the presidency of the Ramsar Convention from China for the next three years.
The opening ceremony will feature a high-level ministerial segment and the presentation of the Victoria Falls Declaration, a landmark statement that outlines Zimbabwe’s commitment to wetland restoration.
President Mnangagwa’s attendance underscores Zimbabwe’s dedication to sustainable development and environmental stewardship.
It also presents an opportunity for the Head of State to engage with stakeholders in strengthening international cooperation to protect wetlands, often called the “lungs of the Earth.”
