An easyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow was forced into an emergency landing around 8:20 a.m. local time on July 27, 2025, after a 41-year-old male passenger caused panic mid-flight by emerging from the aircraft lavatory shouting “Allahu Akbar,” claiming to have a bomb, and chanting extremist slogans including
“Death to America, death to Trump.” Trump was in Scotland at the time, staying nearby at Turnberry golf course.
The man believed to be of Indian origin and carrying refugee documentation also physically pushed cabin crew members before passengers intervened. Several travelers managed to restrain him until the plane landed safely at Glasgow Airport.
Police Scotland, including its counterterrorism unit, boarded the aircraft immediately upon landing, arrested the passenger, and confirmed that no explosives were found. The suspect later admitted he did not actually have a bomb.
easyJet praised the crew and passengers for their swift, coordinated action, and emphasized the priority it places on safety. No injuries were reported.
The individual remains in police custody as further investigation continues, with authorities continuing to review footage of the incident and interviewing witnesses to establish motive and context.
