SOUTH Africa’s national railway company, Transnet, has re-launched a luxury tourist train service between Pretoria and Zimbabwe’s tourism capital, Victoria Falls.
The iconic Blue Train arrived in Victoria Falls early Thursday morning from Pretoria, South Africa, marking the re-launch of the route last operated in 2001.
”We are so excited to bring our guests to Africa’s most iconic destination. We are promising to bring more people on this route. We are backed by popular demand. Our clients are so happy, and we are already all over social media and are getting questions and inquiries about our next trip. We will be back in a few weeks,” Blue Train’s Acting Train Manager, Ms Mosa Matlhtsi said.
The train brought tourists who wanted to sample Zimbabwe’s tourist products and as usual, the world wonder and majestic Victoria Falls did not disappoint.
“We have been to Zambezi National Park, this morning and we were very excited to see animals. We were also excited to see the Victoria Falls. What is also interesting is that you have nice, friendly people and nice food. And of course, I will keep on marketing Victoria Falls to the Japanese source market,” Thompsons Japan’s Chief Executive Officer, Ms Eri Odagiri noted.
Victoria Falls remains a key destination of choice for both regional and international travellers, and the re-launch of the Blue Train comes as a major boost for both tourists coming through South Africa and Zimbabwe’s tourism sector.
