Rabat – A Moroccan F-16 jet-fighter that is taking part in the Saudi-led coalition against the Houtis in Yemen has gone missing on Sunday, the Moroccan Royal Armed Forces said in a statement carried by Reuters.
The warplane was hit at 6 pm local time, according to Maghreb Arab Press (MAP).
It is unclear whether the pilot has ejected himself form the jet. An investigation is underway, the same source added.
Morocco is among the countries participating in the military campaign against the Houthi rebels, a Shia group supported by Iran.
Since the first day of the bombardment which started on March 26, Rabat was among the first countries to express its solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
