Qatar Urges Libyan Parties To Approve Political Deal

A group of Arab, Islamic and Western countries, including Qatar, urged all Libyan parties to approve the political agreement brokered by the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General to put an end to the instability that experienced by the country.

In an open letter to Libyan parties, 12 Foreign Ministers along with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy affirmed the international community’s willingness to provide more support for the Libyan leaders who are chosen by the Libyan people.

Foreign Ministers of Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy called on all Libyan parties to immediately approve the political agreement in the wake of parties’ meetings in Geneva.

The foreign ministers noted that the Libyan people could hold new elections that would lead to a inclusive democratic parliament in Libya , representing of all and its legitimacy can be acknowledged in all parts of the country and around the world . They stressed that the international community is ready to provide more support for the leaders who are chosen by the Libyan people and looking forward to work and support the government of national reconciliation.
