Belayneh Kinde Group has unveiled a state-of-the-art electric vehicle manufacturing plant in Debre Birhan, Amhara Region, Ethiopia. This ambitious project involves a substantial investment of 3 billion Birr.
The factory boasts an impressive annual production capacity of over 1,000 electric vehicles. Its inauguration was graced by the presence of Arega Kebede, President of the Amhara Regional State, along with other high-ranking regional officials.
Anticipated to generate 1,000 jobs, the facility will offer substantial employment opportunities to local citizens. Beyond job creation, the factory is set to facilitate technological transfer and conserve foreign currency by minimizing Ethiopia’s dependency on imported vehicles.
Spanning 9,000 square meters, the assembly plant is designed to produce a variety of vehicles, including minibuses, coaster buses, luxury buses, and both dry and liquid cargo trucks. This wide range of products positions the factory to cater to the increasing demand for sustainable transportation solutions within Ethiopia and the wider East African market.
The launch of this modern electric vehicle factory marks a significant advancement in Ethiopia’s quest to upgrade its transportation infrastructure and reduce its environmental impact.
