Botswana Shocks Zimbabwe with Last-Minute Goal to Secure 2024 Olympic Qualifier Victory

In a dramatic Olympic qualifying match Botswana stunned Zimbabwe with a last-minute goal to claim a 2-1 victory, keeping their hopes alive for a spot in the 2024 Paris Olympics. The match, held in Harare, was a tense battle between the Southern African rivals, with both teams vying for a crucial win in the qualification race.

Zimbabwe opened the scoring early in the first half with a brilliant strike from captain Tino Kadewere, energizing the home crowd. Botswana, however, regrouped and equalized in the 60th minute through forward Thabang Sesinyi, who finished a well-timed cross.

As the match neared full time and seemed destined for a draw, Botswana’s Moemedi Moatlhaping netted a stunning goal in the 89th minute, silencing the crowd and securing a hard-fought win for his team. Zimbabwe pressed for an equalizer during injury time but were unable to break through Botswana’s defense.

The victory moves Botswana ahead in the qualifiers, placing them in a strong position as they push for a historic Olympic appearance. Zimbabwe, on the other hand, faces an uphill battle in their remaining games as they seek to keep their Olympic dreams alive.
