SpiceJet Flight SG116 Declares Emergency After Bomb Threat on Darbhanga-Mumbai Route

A SpiceJet flight inbound from Darbhanga has declared an emergency whilst approaching Mumbai. SpiceJet flight SG116, operated by a Boeing 737-800, declared the emergency with squawk code 7700 whilst in the cruise approaching Mumbai.

Flight SG116 declared the emergency just prior to its descent into the destination Mumbai (BOM). The flight has continued the approach to Mumbai, and is now on descent through FL130 (13,000 feet). Flight crew are maintaining the priority transponder code 7700 for the arrival.

Traveling from Darbhanga to Mumbai, declared an emergency due to a bomb threat received via a social media post. As a precaution, the flight landed safely at Mumbai Airport and was directed to an isolation bay. All passengers were disembarked, and security agencies conducted thorough checks on the aircraft. After ensuring there was no actual threat, the flight was cleared for further operations. This was part of a series of bomb threats that affected several flights to and from Mumbai over the same period.
