Tassili Airlines B737-800 Suffers Two Burst Tyres on Landing at El Oued Airport

On December 31, 2024, a Tassili Airlines Boeing 737-800 encountered a significant issue during its landing at El Oued Airport in southern Algeria. The aircraft, which had completed a flight from Algiers, suffered two burst tyres upon touchdown.

The incident occurred on the runway, leading to immediate concerns for passenger safety and aircraft stability. Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to assess the situation, and the runway was temporarily closed to allow for repairs and recovery of the aircraft.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the 150 passengers and crew aboard. The passengers were safely evacuated, and alternative transportation was arranged to continue their journey. Authorities are investigating the cause of the tyre failure, with initial reports suggesting the possibility of overpressure or debris on the runway.

This incident highlights the importance of regular maintenance and inspection of both aircraft and airport runways. Tassili Airlines, in coordination with aviation authorities, is expected to conduct a full investigation into the matter. Further updates will follow as more details emerge regarding the incident.
