Rwanda Moves to Secure Contractor for $30M Five-Star Hotel in Southern Province

Rwanda is advancing efforts to secure a contractor for the construction of a $30 million five-star hotel in the Southern Province, a project aimed at boosting tourism and economic development in the region. The ambitious initiative, backed by the government and private sector partners, is expected to enhance hospitality services and attract high-end tourists.

Officials from the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) and local authorities have emphasized the strategic importance of the project, noting that it aligns with the country’s Vision 2050 agenda to position Rwanda as a premier destination for luxury tourism. The hotel is set to be built in one of the province’s prime locations, offering world-class amenities, including conference facilities, wellness centers, and top-tier accommodations.

The procurement process for selecting a contractor is currently underway, with authorities keen on ensuring that the chosen firm meets international construction and hospitality standards. According to officials, the project will create job opportunities and drive economic growth in the region, particularly in tourism and service industries.

The Southern Province, known for its rich cultural heritage and natural attractions, is home to historical sites and breathtaking landscapes that attract both local and international visitors. This hotel is expected to complement existing tourism infrastructure and elevate the province’s appeal to high-end travelers.

Government sources indicate that potential investors and construction firms have already expressed interest in the project. Once a contractor is finalized, construction is expected to commence in the coming months, with completion projected within the next two to three years.

This development is part of Rwanda’s broader efforts to expand its hospitality sector, following successful projects in Kigali and other major tourist hubs. The government remains committed to enhancing tourism infrastructure as a key driver of economic growth and global competitiveness.
