Ethiopian Airlines has finalized two significant engine agreements with GE Aerospace to power its expanding fleet of Boeing widebody aircraft.
The airline has selected the GEnx-1B engines for 11 newly ordered Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, increasing its GEnx-powered fleet from 19 to 30 aircraft.
Additionally, Ethiopian Airlines has reaffirmed its previous order for GE9X engines to power eight Boeing 777-9 aircraft, with options for six more.
These agreements also encompass comprehensive maintenance, repair, and overhaul services for both engine types, ensuring long-term operational efficiency and reliability.
Ethiopian Airlines Group CEO, Mr. Mesfin Tasew, stated that these agreements reflect the airline’s commitment to fleet modernization, operational efficiency, and sustainability as it continues to connect Africa to the world.
