A major facelift is underway at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals in Harare, thanks to a collaboration between the government and the private sector.
Prevail International, a local construction company, is transforming Adlam House, the student nurses’ residence, and the adjacent Mbuya Nehanda Hospital in the first phase of the facelift of Zimbabwe’s largest referral health facility.
The nurses’ residence upgrade is now nearing completion, with Prevail International’s project manager, Vanessa Butao, confirming that they are on track to meet the 1st of September target.
“For the Adlam House, the aluminium windows are in place, painting is done, and we have replaced all roofs. For Mbuya Nehanda, demolition began just last Thursday, and plumbing and window installations are at 15 %. We’re aiming to deliver both buildings to world-class standards,” she said.
The Mbuya Nehanda Hospital refurbishment project entails demolition of some undesirable parts.
“We have completed plumbing, electrical, flooring, and ceilings, all to a high-quality standard. We expect to hand over Adlam House on September the 1st. For Mbuya Nehanda, we are creating a state-of-the-art maternity facility, modern reception, upgraded ducts, plumbing, and an environmentally sustainable design,” Public relations manager Prevail, Tariro Dondo said.
After completion, Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals is expected to offer nurses and patients improved accommodation and care facilities.
