Mr. President,
Nigeria is facing a growing security and humanitarian crisis that demands international attention.
For years, terrorist and criminal networks terrorized parts of Northern Nigeria. Today, insecurity is spreading into regions that were once considered among the safest and most peaceful in the country. Communities in Kwara, Oyo, Ogun, and surrounding areas are increasingly experiencing kidnappings, violent attacks, and assaults on innocent civilians.
Most alarming are reports involving the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Ogbomosho, Oyo State. Every child taken from a classroom is a future interrupted. Every teacher attacked is an attack on education itself.
Millions of Nigerians now live under the constant fear that schools, farms, roads, and communities can become targets. Families wake each day uncertain whether their loved ones will return home safely.
This is not merely a Nigerian problem. It is a humanitarian issue that affects regional stability, human rights, and the future of an entire generation.
On behalf of concerned Nigerian-Americans, members of the Nigerian diaspora, and advocates for peace and human dignity, I respectfully appeal to President Donald J. Trump, the White House, the United States Congress, the United States Senate, and relevant agencies of the United States Government to help bring greater international attention to this crisis.
We urge increased diplomatic engagement, intelligence cooperation, humanitarian support, and every lawful effort that can contribute to the safe recovery of abducted students and teachers and the protection of vulnerable communities.
The lives of innocent children and educators should never become bargaining chips in the hands of terrorists and criminal actors.
The world must not look away.
Help bring them back.
Help protect the innocent.
Help restore hope.
Respectfully,
Olujide Stephen Adesina
