Letters from a Concerned Parent to the Chosen Generation
My child, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge. (Proverbs 1:7a) When wisdom enters your heart and knowledge is pleasant to your soul, discretion will preserve you, understanding will keep you, to deliver you from the way of evil. (Proverbs 2:10-12a)
Dear Beloved Child:
I am very troubled by the conditions of the world, conditions that lure your focus of off your future and destiny. I am deeply troubled that the devil is gaining an upper hand in the affairs of young people. That is why I am writing you these series of letters. My hope is that you will develop a different and godly perceptive of your identity as it pertains to your goal in life. You’ve had questions relating to reasons why you were born and I hope to tackle those questions and others as well. But, first I must introduce you to my Lord and Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the one that helped me when I had the same questions you are now dealing with. He gave me hope when my vision was unclear and because of Him I have faith that you will learn to let go of the grip of the evil one, your adversary.
Sometimes I laugh at your perception of life, you are under the impression that you know everything but the truth is that you need to collaborate with us your parents, and God our creator and heavenly father. I understand that this world is changing and forgetting the goodness of God but you must realize that this is the trick of the devil, the opposer of God.
I am not against you having fun but I do want you to think of the future. Your future is yours to live and my desire is to see you prosper in life. I have made my own mistakes and have learned from them. It always surprises me when children refuse to learn from their parents’ mistake. My wish is for you to learn from our mistakes and avoid the same pitfalls we encountered.
I have heard testimonies of people proclaiming the keeping power of God, His grace kept them from the same pitfalls others fell into. Let Him do the same for you, His keeping power can protect and prevent you from negative peer pressure, drugs, premarital sex, unwanted pregnancies and sexually related diseases.
In Psalm 145:4, the Psalmist David, declares, “one generation shall praise your works to another and shall declare your mighty acts.” This summarizes my hope for you. I want you to be familiar with the works of God so you can fully understand His plans for your life.
I pray the Lord will open the eyes of your understanding to believe in His truth, which will reveal His purpose and plan for your life.
I pray, “you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power.” (Collossians 1:9-11)
