Pope Francis To Visit Uganda This Year // Francis Pape à Visiter Ouganda Cette Année

Pope Francis revealed on Monday that he hopes to visit South American countries Ecuador, Bolivia and Paraguay this year, as well as the Central African Republic and Uganda.

This he revealed to Nicole Winfield, of the Associated Press AP aboard the Papal Plane from his visit to Philipines.

The 2015 trips, are however still in their planning stages and are not confirmed by the Vatican. They would come on top of his planned tvisit to the United States in September, AP has reported.

President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda visited the Vatican late last year, and the issue of a possible visit to the land of the Ugandan Martyrs was said to have been discussed.

According to AP, Pope Francis plans to canonize the 17th-century missionary Junipero Serra during the Washington leg of the U.S. trip, likely at the National Shrine.

According to AP, Francis is expected to visit the White House and address Congress, then speak at the United Nations , and participate in a massive Catholic rally for families in Philadelphia.

Francis, told AP the proposed African trips “would likely take place at the end of 2015 to avoid the rainy seasons.”

AP quoted the Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, as saying that the travel plans were “provisional and that nothing has been decided.”

Francis said he would have loved to have entered the U.S. via the Mexican border, saying it would have been a “beautiful thing, as a sign of brotherhood and of help to the immigrants.”

“But you know that going to Mexico without going to visit the Madonna (of Guadalupe) would be a drama. A war could break out!” he said, laughing. He said a Mexico visit would come in the future.

AP further reported that “Speaking as his plane passed through Chinese airspace, Francis again expressed his openness to going to China, and denied recent speculation that he had turned down a requested audience with the Dalai Lama out of fears of angering Beijing.”

Francis said the audience was rejected as a matter of Vatican protocol. “The reason was not a refusal of the person or fear of China,” he said.

China severed relations with the Holy See in 1951 after the communists took over. Emeritus Pope Benedict XVI and now Francis have sought to mend ties.

Selon AP, Francis devrait visiter la maison blanche et le Congrès,d’adresse alors la parole à l’ONU, et participer à unrassemblement catholique massif pour les familles à Philadelphie.

Francis, a déclaré à AP les voyages africaines proposées « auraientprobablement lieu à la fin de 2015 afin d’éviter les saisons despluies. »

AP a cité le porte-parole du Vatican, le révérend FedericoLombardi, en disant que les plans de voyage ont été « provisoireet que rien n’a été décidé. »

Francis a dit qu’il aurait aimé sont entrés aux Etats-Unis via lafrontière mexicaine, il aurait été une « belle chose, comme unsigne de fraternité et d’aide aux immigrants ».

« Mais vous savez qu’aller au Mexique sans aller visiter la Madone(de Guadalupe) est un drame. Une guerre pourrait éclater! », dit-ilen riant. Une visite de Mexico viendrait à l’avenir, dit-il.

AP a également signalé que « en tant que son avion transmisel’espace aérien chinois, Francis à nouveau exprimé son ouverturepour aller vers la Chine et a rejeté des spéculations récentes qu’ilavait refusé une audience demandée avec le Dalaï Lama, de peurde mécontenter Beijing. »

Francis a dit que le public a été rejeté comme une question deprotocole du Vatican. « La raison n’était pas un refus de lapersonne ou de la crainte de la Chine », dit-il.

Chine rompu le lien avec le Saint-siège en 1951 après que lescommunistes a repris. Émérite Pope Benedict XVI et maintenantFrancis ont tenté de réparer les liens.
