Ghana and the Ivory Coast will lock horns in what promises to be an epic 2015 Africa Cup of Nations final on Sunday, 8 February.
Kick-off at the Estadio de Bata in Equatorial Guinea is at 21h00 (CAT).
The Black Stars booked their place in their ninth final with a 3-0 win over the hosts in a game that was marred by crowd trouble.
Ivory Coast, meanwhile, secured their sport in their third final in the space of nine years with a 3-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo.
For the Elephants, the final presents yet another opportunity to end their wait for continental success, having lost on penalties in the the 2006 and 2012 AFCON finals to Egypt and Zambia respectively.
Ghana themselves will be looking to put an end to their trophy drought. The Black Stars last lifted the coveted title in 1982, having also won the crown in 1963,1965 and 1978.
Avram Grant’s men in fact, like their opponents, will be aiming to avoid a run of three final defeats in succession, having ended as runners-up in 1992 and 2010.
Ghana midfielder Andre Ayew insists the better side on the day will win the championship.
“Nobody is scared of nobody,” said Ayew. “I think it is a big game where there will be big players and it is going to be tough for everyone. So I believe that the better side on that day will take it,” the Black Stars vice-captain added.
Ivorian winger Gervinho meanwhile encouraged his troops to go on and win the title having seen the ‘golden generation’ come up short in their previous title quests.
“We are going to enjoy the moment, it has been a long way for us. This time we must win the final,” the AS Roma man said.
Ivory Coast and Ghana have met in 30 official international matches. The Black Stars have claimed 12 wins, one more than the Elephants’ 11, while seven encounters have been drawn.
The two sides have met in the final of the competition on only one previous occasion, back in 1992 when Ivory Coast last won the tournament.
The game ended 0-0 before the Elephants won a marathon penalty shootout 11-10 to oust their West African rivals.
